Kiddies Want to Rock Out Too!

Crib Rock® Couture

I'm a sucker for anything cool and famous; Crib Rock Couture certainly fits the bill. If Maddox loves Crib Rock then so do we! "An original children’s brand of clothing and nursery decor inspired by classic children’s literature and good old rock n’ roll," these couture clothes are not only unique but also made in the USA! Not limited to apparel, in August "Cheap Sticks," (re-usable wall stickers) will make their debut in the Legends line making not just your kids cool but their walls too. From infant and toddlers to kids and tweens, the entire family can rock out with Crib Rock Couture.

Cool Pick: Their new tee line "Legends" featuring legends of lore from around the globe will make an appearance in the upcoming movie The Mummy. And the infant triplets of The Mummy director Rob Cohen are the first Celebrity Babies to sport Crib Rock's Legends onesies. How cool is that? Which Legends design is your favorite?

Hipster Hugs

In the world of baby/kid apparel, it's hard to stand out. The advent of sites such as Cafe Press have made tees with cute sayings easy to find (though still often adorable). Luckily, I have discovered for my loyal CBK readers truly unique clothing for your wee ones called Hispter Hugs. Create by a mom, this line for babies, kids and moms looks like none other. Quality clothing with super cute appliques, Hispter Hugs is worthy of a "Where'd you get that?" from other moms. Even better, they personalize (you pick the tee, fabric etc.) with your initial...how cool is that? On a side note, when you visit out their webpage which is really nice, check out the favicon (little graphic in the address bar at the top)...it is the cutest ever! Let me know if you love Hipster Hugs as much as I do.

Cool Giveaway: One lucky Cool Baby Kid reader will receive a free tee from Hipster Hugs! Click here to find out how to increase your chances of winning. An email address is needed to contact the winner. Contest ended. Congratulations Andrea! Contest rules apply.

Coolest Baby & Kid Books Ever!

Begin Smart Book Series

As an English teacher, I can appreciate the time, effort and research that is apparent behind the absolute coolest line of books ever. Written by an author and former educator, Begin Smart is a developmental book series for babies and toddlers. The "Faces" book pictured (newborn-6 months) is a permanent fixture in our diaper bag. A cute cloth book about expressions from sad to sleepy, the top face is a rattle too! My three month old son loves to eat it...I mean read it. Other books such as "Woof" and "Meow" also go beyond your basic book experience by including nifty sound effects for 6-12 month olds. Begin Smart is one of those rare finds that makes you want to buy two every product they have--one for your kids and one as a gift for all the kids you know. I love the idea behind the line, the products themselves and the webpage which after visiting you'll see why I'm so enthusiastic about these books!

Cool Giveaway: One lucky Cool Baby Kid reader will experience my excitement first-hand by receiving two of their very own Begin Smart books! Click here to find out how to increase your chances of winning. An email address is needed to contact the winner. Contest ended. Congratulations Kristina! Contest rules apply.

A Baby Book...for Adults

Babies Are Boring by Jon Ritchie

An English teacher by trade, one thing I know for sure is that reading can never go out of style. Always on the lookout for fun new books for the little ones, I was thrilled to discover Babies Are Boring by Jon Ritchie, illustrated by Alex Ritchie. "If you look back, there's a life you used to know. The time, the time, oh wherever does it go?" What parent can't relate to remembering a time before "the never-ending bottle making" or "...the changing and the wiping and the endless hours of singing." Beautifully illustrated, the fun part about Babies Are Boring is that not only with kids love it, their mom and dads will enjoy reading it as well. Good news since we all know what happens when kids like a book. You'll have it memorized in no time!

Cool Tip: Buy Babies Are Boring at the Cool Baby Kid Amazon Store.

Little Hats for Little Ones

Little Fit Hats

If you want your child to be hip, you simply have to get them at least one (if not more) of these hats by Little Fit. Trust me on this one. They are specially designed for wee ones and the flex hats even grow with them. Because of their special design, little flexy hats fit most 1-3 year olds while the big flexy hats fit 3-5 year olds. Little Fit hats are just as stylish as they are practical. Choose between classic hats in a variety of colors (even pink!) or more edgy trucker hats with sayings like "Skate or Cry." The basic black or brown work great with a variety of outfits, while the funky ones make perfect gifts. As with many CBK picks, these were created by a mom & dad which is why they make so much sense. Little Fit hats are big on style. Let me know if you love them as much as I do!

Cool Giveaway: Little Fit is letting one lucky Cool Baby Kid reader choose their favorite hat! To enter just leave a comment on this post with which hat(s) you like best. Click here to find out how to increase your chances of winning. Contest ended. Congratulations Lynn!

Dealing with a waking baby due to pacifier pop outs, the creator of WubbaNub sewed together a pacifier and plush toy for baby to hang on to allowing it to stay put. My daughter never used a pacifier, but happily my son does, and the WubbaNub is by far the cutest and most efficient one we own. Cool Shopping Cart Covers

The Original Clean Shopper Cart Cover

A baby "must-have" product, what differentiates the
Original Clean Shopper from other cart covers are their style (cool patterns), Velcro closures that keep the cover secure, and a variety of other amenities. It was obviously designed by a mom with features like loops to attach toys, two pockets and a safety strap so you don't have to rely on the yucky one that comes with the cart. I personally use it for every grocery store or restaurant trip since it fits on a high chair, though the Clean Diner was designed just for eating out. Baby Ease makes other neat stuff like the Clean Burper; they're worth a look!
Cool Pick:
Super Soft Clean Shopper for a little extra padding. Buy at Shop for everything baby at the BabyCenter Store

The Bowtique: Clever Name for a Clever Shop

My readers know I'm a fan of making my own simple bows. But outside the realm of the basic bow, I'd prefer to leave it to the experts. One said expert is the owner of The Bowtique. (Don't you adore that name?) Cute "clippies" for girls big and little, "felt fuzzies," "Pony-Os" and other cool stuff, this place carries the cutest girls accessories you'd never want to make yourself. And believe it or not, they are affordable! Put it all together and how could The Bowtique not make Cool Baby Kid's top picks list?

Cool Pick: Gift sets! Enter code "coolbabykid" for 10% off your purchase.

Toddler Bibs & Cool Monogrammed Gifts

Bella Wearing Alphabet Moon Toddler Bib

Looking for a toddler bib that would withstand the mother of all meals--a PB&J sandwich--and still come out intact, I found this online boutique which is truly unique. The bib is exactly what I was looking for--it ties (someone figured out how to pull off bibs that Velcro) and is also lightweight, easy to clean and stylish. Alphabet Moon doesn't just do bibs and lots of their stuff can be personalized (which I love for gifts). This store definitely worth checking out.

Cool Pick: "Spell-Their-Name" pillows were even featured on "Friends"...now that's cool.

Clothing and Gifts...Italian Style

Il Cocco Di Mamma Signature Baby Gifts

I found this gem, believe it or not, searching for an upcoming trip to Italy! What makes this line unique are the sayings on their signature tees, from "baci e abbracci" (kisses and hugs) to "Ciao!" (Hello/Goodbye). They even feature organic tees with saying like "dolce come il miele" (sweet as honey). From the Italian roots of the owner to the beautifully designed line, and website, I love everything about il cocco di mamma and think you will too.

Cool Pick: How can I not love the "bella" (beautiful) tee? My Bella has the "la coco di papa" (daddy's girl) which is also adorable.

Unique Plush Toys for Baby & Toddler

Rich Frog Toys & Children's Gifts

Walking through Babies R Us, I see six infant carriers with the same toys dangling from the handles and think, "I have that too!" I suddenly have a desire to find baby #2 something different. After an extensive search, I hit the jackpot. Rich Frog, a Vermont-based company that makes toys for baby and toddler, carries toys that are unique and super cute. And their website is so neat-looking it makes you want to hang out and play. Finally, something different to hang on my carrier that I know will evoke scores of "Where'd you get that?"

Cool Pick: Big Baby Keys pictured above.

Hoohobbers: Toddler Towels, Moses Baskets & More...

I mention toddler towels because that is what I was looking for when I discovered Hohobbers. Clinging to the idea of a hooded towel, maybe because I don't want my little girl to grow up, I realized the infant ones just didn't cut it any longer. Hoohobbers immediately impressed me with their large selection, much of it personalizable, which is great for gifts. Reading about the company I found they actually got started with their Junior Director's Chair, another neat-looking product. This is one cool company!

Cool Pick: It wasn't easy, but I'm picking the Moses Basket...it's machine washable!!

Bows and Barettes That Don't Break the Bank

I realize I advocated in an earlier post making your own bows. However, a basic bow is one thing...extra adorable hair accessories that require extra time and creativity are another. That's why I was thrilled to find Baby Janes hair accessories ; not only are they super cute, they're actually reasonablly priced! Amazing, I know. You can thank me anytime for this incredible find as I know you'll love Baby Janes as much as I do. Take advantage of the Spring Sale with 10% everythig and free shipping!!

When celebrities love something, Cool Baby Kid has to check it out. After browsing through Little Show Offs collection of fun tees for everyone from "brand new" baby to mom & dad, you'll see why we love this site too. They make perfect gifts that let baby speak for himself, whether it's to proclaim "Eat Sleep Poo Cry" or "Democrat in Training." Their signature "Brand New" pictured on the left works well for baby boy or girl. This is one cool line I love!

Cool Pick: "Into Everything" for toddler says it all.

Cool & Comfy Changing Pad

Monday, April 7, 2008

Ah Goo Baby Plush Pad Changing Station

Yes, your diaper bag comes with a changing pad. But trust me, it's not as fashionable or comfortable for baby as the Plush Pad by Ah Goo Baby. I love so many things about this changing station: it's hip- looking, rolls up nice and small, and is made with memory foam so it is comfy for the little one. The only drawback you'll encounter is picking a pattern because they are all so stylish. Thank goodness the "Cool Pick" makes it easy for you! Plush Pad is famous, check it out.

Cool Pick: "Spa" is perfect for boy or girl. Buy the Plush Pad here. Right now get free shipping AND 20% off at Ah Goo Baby by using code PNB515.

Chic Nursing Covers for Breastfeeding Moms

Bebe Au Lait/Hooter Hiders Nursing Covers

When Bella was 6 weeks old we took her to Disneyworld; my cousin Nancy, who breastfed four girls, laughed when I ran off to hide and feed the baby, telling me I'd have to learn to nurse in public. Thanks for the lesson! And thanks to Bebe Au Lait who makes the nursing in public chic. Michael, baby #2, not only will be eating in public but will be doing it in style. The covers are designed so you can look down and see baby without having to smother him (or her) or expose yourself while the cover stays in place. It makes a perfect gift for a breastfeeding mom, especially since they also are sold under the more cheeky name "Hooter Hiders". This is one cool product!

Cool Pick: Get
Chocolat, my favorite pattern; it's great for boy or girl.

Toddler Snack Solution

OnTray: The Container to Go

The very first time I used this product, while shopping at Sam's Club, I was stopped by a dad who was simultaneously handing his son a snack and talking to me. He wanted to know where I got the snack tray; I love sharing great finds like this one! OnTray by 42Kids snaps onto a shopping cart and lets toddler snack on his/her own. I keep it in my car with the shopping cart cover and use it every time we're on the go. OnTray is one terrific mom-invented product!

Cool Tip: Keep snacks stocked inside; the cover won't let them go stale. Buy OnTray at Mom4Life for free shipping.
